Who doesn’t like a dramatic attention-drawing pendant light? Hang one at least 18 to 24 inches above your storage bench so that the overall visual impact is dramatic and the ceilings feel higher. Height: Centre the primary artwork around 8-10 inches above the back of your bench or 12-15 inches above where the bench begins. This is for a balanced feel and a visual harmony.

Normally, your storage bench occupies 15-25% of the wall space. You have to consider the proportions based on how small or big your bench looks against the wall. If it is too small, it will be lost amidst other things, and if it is too big, then it will dominate the other aspects of the room. Here’s what you can experiment with when creating a presentable storage space.

Proportions

Entryway Storage Bench: If your entryway is around 10ft wide, then opt for an entryway storage bench measuring at least 60 inches. Position the rug in a way that it extends approximately 2-3 feet on either side of the bench. You now have a proper landing zone and ample space for a walkway.

Bedroom Storage Bench: If you have a larger bed that is around 8 foot then pair it with a bedroom storage bench measuring 60 to 70 inches. This will fit in nicely at the foot of the bed. Leave around 6 to 12 inches of visibility on either side so that the arrangement looks properly framed and gives your room some visual breathing space. 

Small Space Storage Bench: Tighter quarters like small apartments or dorms can benefit from a small space storage bench measuring 45-50 inches. To make it more pleasing, pair it with a 3'×5' rug. Add a 24-30-inch LED mirror above, for a spatial feel.
