The hot part of summer lasts about 6 months. We normally have smaller pool umbrellas that encircle the outer part of the pool that is most full in the sun. This umbrella is huge and does not get in the way when we swim around. The umbrella can be easily adjusted and moved back and forth for when we want more or less sun.You do have to buy a base. This can cost upwards of fifty dollars. This is heavy duty, durable umbrella that is made with very good quality materials. We love this umbrella.Here is what Cantilever means:A cantilever is a rigid structural element (such as a beam or truss) that is firmly anchored at only one end, projecting horizontally into space with no visible support at the other. The fixed end bears the entire load and handles significant bending and shear stresses.

This is a super nice patio item.One thing that I've always disliked about traditional umbrellas has been the unavoidable center pole.This product removes that issue.With the vertical structure moved to the side, we can take full advantage of the shade beneath the canopy.We're using this in an outdoor waiting area in Texas, and our customers really appreciate the shade.It does require some extra weight to the base so the wind doesn't take it away.I'm currently working on a permanent anchoring system, so I don't have to fuss over whether we've placed enough weight on the base.

This umbrella looks nice and seems like it would provide good shade, but it does not come with a base. That is a big downside because you cannot actually use it without making a second purchase.For a large cantilever umbrella, the base is not optional in practical use, so I wish that had been more obvious or included as part of the set. The umbrella itself may be fine, but needing to buy another large piece separately makes it less convenient and more expensive than expected.Overall, make sure you order the correct base at the same time, or you will not be able to set this up right away.

I love that the stand has a side offset which makes it great for pools and patios. Provides alot of shade, its durable and easy to use. Really great quality at this price point.
