Day 1 the chickens were using it just fine! We do seem to have some broken eggs on occasion but no egg eaters getting to them!
Just got this in today and put it together, this thing gave me papercuts on my GARVEE hand, and my knee. Be careful putting this thing together it will cut you up. I will update later when I've had it longer and my chickens use it.
This took me about an hour to assemble. Lots of screws, the instructions are... Ok. I wasn't missing anything, and in fact, there were extras of most of the hardware.Overall, I feel that the quality of construction matches the price of the nesting box, which is why I'm giving it 5 stars.These are my findings and suggestions:1. Use a PH3 screwdriver bit. The driver that came with it is a PH1, which is too small.2. Try and tighten as many screws as possible WITH the nesting trays installed. It's all a tight fit, and this makes it easier.3. The orange plastic tops to the nesting trays snap onto the black bottom with a less than satisfying click, but I don't think they will pop off too easily.
These have worked so well for my chickens. They are the right size and very sturdy. Very well made
