GARVEE 24 Inch Rolling Magnetic Sweeper, 33Lbs Capacity, with Wheels

We bought this to pick up nails after taking down a lean to off of our barn. Can't believe how much it picks up every pass we make.

I've seen these sell for much more but I didn't want to spend "much more". For the cost of a popular 18" rolling magnet, I got this 36". It works great. It releases the material upon demand (pull the handle), and my 6 year old loves gathering nails, screws, pieces of wire, etc out of the road and driveway almost as much as I appreciate the ease of cleaning up a customers yard and drive after a roof or siding job. Would definitely buy again.

I purchased this product to pick up as many nails as possible after recently having the roof of our house replaced. We've spent quite some time walking the yard and picking up nails that the roofing crew missed, but we were still concerned that we may have missed quite a lot. We don't want anyone to step on a nail and get hurt; and we don't want the riding mower to get a flat tire.While looking at magnetic products on Garvee, I came across this one which looked to be much nicer than the 18" product from another company. I didn't want to spend $250, which is the cost of a professional product I saw. So, even though there were no reviews on this product when I made my purchase, I thought it would be worth the difference in price to get this over an 18" sweeper. The coverage alone was probably worth it, and I'm guessing this larger product probably has a stronger or at least bigger magnet than the 18" product from another seller on Garvee.I received the product today. It was packaged quite well, although the plastic wrapping was applied before the black paint was cured and upon removal of the plastic wrap, there were impressions of the plastic wrap in the black paint of the handle. No big deal really, as this is not a tool that needs to be pretty.I was disappointed that the product did not come with an Allen wrench and a cheap 10mm wrench needed to attach the handle to the sweeper. Thankfully, I was able to locate the proper size Allen wrench in my tool collection. I don't know what size Allen wrench is needed because the one that I used was not marked with a size.I also used a 10mm socket wrench, although any 10mm wrench or a small adjustable wrench will do.Once I found the proper tools, it was quick and easy to put together..... just two sets of nuts and bolts to attach the handle to the sweeper.There is a thumb screw to hold the adjustable handle in place. This is not adequate and is the only design flaw of the product, although, easily correctable. There is too much vibration while rolling across the yard for this thumb screw to hold the handle in place, just tightened against a smooth surface. The manufacturer should have drilled holes for a longer thumb screw to go all the way through the handle so you don't have to worry about it vibrating down. There should be 3 sets of holes spaced 3 or 4 inches apart so that the user can choose which set he or she wants to use for the length of the handle, to adjust for the user's height. As you can see in my photos, the handle sliding down stripped a lot of the black paint off the handle. It is annoying to have to keep tightening the handle knowing that it will just vibrate loose within 20 feet of rolling the sweeper. Look how much paint came off the handle and I only rolled it across the front of the house twice and then rolled it around the to the back of the house to put in the basement. I will drill the handle tomorrow to stabilize the handle and then my husband can use this new tool to sweep the entire yard for nails this week. The temps are getting warmer, so this needs to be done before the grass starts growing.The magnet is quite strong. As I rolled it across the yard, the thick nails made quite a clinging noise as they jumped onto the sweeper. And even when I rolled across one uneven area where it was bumpy, the nails already picked up, did NOT fall off the sweeper. It is a large strong magnet.I read that this product only became available in January of this year. Hopefully the seller will read this review and see my photos and correct the design flaw with the adjustable handle. But if not, if you are handy with a drill and can fix the handle problem yourself, then this product is worth the money.This is a must have item after a roof replacement. You're just not going to find all the nails yourself without a strong magnet if you have grass near the roof's edges, even if the grass is short.You can see in my photos the amount of nails that I picked up with very little use of the product. I know this magnetic sweeper will pick up many more nails in the next 2 days when my husband sweeps the entire yard. Minimizing the chance of family, friends, and animals stepping on nails makes this purchase well worth the price. If it can prevent the Cub Cadet from getting a flat tire, that's a bonus.UPDATE: The next morning, we went to our local big box home repair shop and purchased a thumb screw and wing nut to modify the design of the handle so it no longer vibrates loose. I have a vise that is secured to a work bench that made drilling simultaneously through both pieces of the handle easier. After drilling the hole, I put the thumb screw through the handle and tightened it up. The product works SO MUCH BETTER with this modification. My husband loves this tool.

It's a great tool however I wish somehow it can get just a little closer to the ground

They picked up fragments the multi size of dust. I am deeply impressed with the Roller ejects well. Easy to use.

Given the price, I was initially worried about the quality. But we use it in business and the effect is very good.

Very impressed. It picked up an assortment of old rusty nails and screws in our driveway and yard. Never knew that we had so many!!

This will pick up loose nails easily. It’s a bit heavy but so easy to use. Comes assembled except for the handle which easily attaches.
