It works very well.

We have a heated pool, but with home heating oil prices being what they are this year we were looking for a way to not have to heat the pool as much. This cover is doing far more in the effort than we could've hoped. We had a stretch of weather where the days were shooting up into the 80s but nights were dropping into the upper 50s. Putting this on each evening held the heat of the day in beautifully. We didn't want to bother with one of the large roller devices. My wife doesn't like to remove the cover herself. I can, but it's lots of back and forth. With the 2 of use, however, it's a breeze and it folds up nicely so we can drag it out of the way.If we get a season out of it I think it will have paid for itself, but I'm confident we'll get much more.

Work As Advertised...even Better

We have been using two of these solar blankets to cover our 36' x 24' pool for three months now and they have been great. They have held up well to nearly daily installation and removal. We use a single 24' wide roller to store the blankets when not in use. This keeps the pool area much neater and probably reduces wear and tear on the covers as well. Normally we allow the covers to float on the surface unattached, however, one did get blown off by a fast moving thunderstorm so I'd recommend some kind of straps if in a windy area. We have found three significant benefits to the covers...heating the water (central PA), keeping debris out of the pool, and most remarkable is the reduced consumption of chlorine. The covers raised the pool temp (30K gal) 6 degrees in about 24 hours in early June and have consistently kept the temperature around 80 degrees throughout the summer. Because the covers float we can crank them onto the roller easily and remove the occasional leaf or insect during the retraction process. Finally, the covers have significantly reduced our use of chlorine and other chemicals. While I haven't kept an record of chlorine consumption, it's pretty obvious during those periods when the covers are off for several days the usage goes up. Regarding durability, clearly they will have a limited life (3-4 years??), but being somewhat lighter also allows easy installation/retraction. Given their initial cost and what they have saved us in chlorine I estimate they'll pay for themselves in two years. I'd highly recommend this product.

PICKEST MAN IN THE WORLD AND IT WORKS!

Ok I am the PICKIEST MAN IN THE WORLD! So yes my review has some weight! I am here to tell you that this Solar sheet is AMAZING!!!!!! So I put mine on the same night that I received it and it was over the pool overnight and then about 7 to 9 hours and it took my pool from 60 degrees to 80 degrees! So here is what you need to know: make sure to put the cover over the pool overnight as it will keep the heat in the pool and keep out the cold air. Also you must run your pool pump during the day when the pool is covered and the sun is the hottest! That will make the ENTIRE POOL WARM! For those of you who are posting that it only heats the first couple of inches that is not true! It is only doing that because you are not running the pump to circulate the water while it is heating. I have a Victorian Style in ground pool 16 by 32 and 24,0000 gallon pool and it heated my pool in about 7-9 hours! My pool is located in an area where the sun it directly above it for about 7-9 hours a day but trust me if you cover your pool with the solar blanket at night and allow it to stay over the pool from 7 am to 4 or 5 pm ( make sure to run your pump at least from 9 am to 4 and the water will be nice and warm! ROCK ON~

Great quality to cost ratio buy on this product

It's very rare that I ever five star anything but this product is well deserving of the 5 star status. This is a very heavy duty made product. I currently have it spread over my inground pool and it is definitely serving its purpose of protecting the pool environment. The temperature rose 5 degree just after being installed for 3 days. Of course climate is everything depending on where you live. I live in central California in the valley so even by end of October it's still fair weather (high 70's to mid 80's). So if you live in the mountains, your expectations.will more than like note fair as well as if you live in the city, valley or desert areas. The product has a 5 year warranty on it. The first year is replaced at 100%, 2nd is 80/20, 3rd is 60/40, 4th is 30/70 and the 5th year is 10/90 coverage. This means that if you need to have the product replaced that you would pay the qualifying percentage for the warranted year. Example: on the third year if I need to heave the product replaced than the warranty would be covered to 60% and I would pay out of pocket 40%.Right now I am waiting for as well as looking forward to my pool cover reel to arrive. I will submit pictures once I have it all put together.

It works well with a solar heatet

I bought this for my mom's pool while we visited her last week. She lives in the Tampa Bay area She has a solar heater and any cool day will drop the pool temp down where you can not swim in it for a couple of days. Any way she was not happy I got this since they have tried the Lilly pad type solar heater which didn't work at all. But I put it on once it arrived. I used a pair scissors and cut the rectangle shape to the kidney shape pool. Very easily. I used the cut remnant as mats for my knees while cutting the thing out. Once on it fit real well and over the week I was there I made more small cuts to fine tune the fit. Any way the water with there solar heater warmed up to 82 degrees. Which most likely would of happened without it. But then we had a cool night 57 degrees and no sun cooler day which most of the time would have dropped the temp to 75 it stayed to 80. The next day by 11 it was 83. It is not hard to pull off but we do need a roller would be good. She called me yesterday and likes it now the outside temp was 60 but the pool is still 80. So it appears it worked.

Warmer Pool, Less Chlorine Loss, and Saves Water

I bought this primarily to help warm up my pool in the spring and fall. My pool gets full sun and has a dark bottom. With the pool cover my pool generally gets up to about 8 degrees cooler than the high temperature for the day. For example, if it gets up to 85 outside, the pool will get up to around 78. This is about 5 degrees warmer than without the pool cover, which is exactly what I was hoping for. It has the added benefits of saving water (less evaporation) and saving chlorine. It is a bit of a pain to install since I have an odd shaped pool. I can install it myself in about 10 minutes, or about 5 minutes with the help of someone else or if I get in the pool. I cut it in half down the middle to make it easier to install and move around. The color is very natural looking.I don't plan on leaving it on all summer as the pool will get too hot. I also don't plan on leaving it on in the winter as there isn't really a reason to do that in my case. The warranty is pro-rated so the longer you own it, the less you'll get back if it fails. However, the quality of the cover seems very good and I hope to get 3 or 4 seasons out of it.

Solar Pool Cover - YOU BET!!!!

I was a bit skeptical about solar pool covers, but I figured maybe I could get a couple extra weeks out of my pool. BOY - this thing isunbelievable, once received we laid it over the pool and cut it out to fit, was so easy, and it has been getting into the low 50s at night - butsince it gets into the 70s during the day the sun warms the pool right back up to the mid 80s, it is actually wonderful, I have used my poolalmost every day and its the end of October.... I live in San Antonio so I was hoping this would be good enough, so far it has exceeded my wildest expectations........ It really locks in the heat, takes less than a minute to remove it and about a minute to put it back on the pool - it got down to 45 the other night, the pool only went down to 80 - the sun came out and it got up to 78 outside, but the pool got up to 85........ So I felt I should write a review since I was so happy with the product. My pool is about 40 feet long and about 15 feet wide, I bought the 20 x 40 cover.......

So Far So Great

First time with a solar blanket. I read lots of reviews before I purchased this one. I was very skeptical but at this price i figured why not? The only mistake I made is in size. I should have ordered the next size larger than my pool. I have a 16 X 32 pool with steps and a cozy corner. I had planned to cut the cover in half for easier placement. I can still do this but it would have been easier if the blanket was larger and could be overlapped where I cut it. No big problem I will do that when I buy the next one. I would recommend reviewing the link I am posting with this review. Excellent instructions on placement and fitting the cover to your pool. [...]When I put the cover on, the pool temperature was 50 degrees. The weather has really fluctuated and has been as high as 76 degrees and as low as 36 degrees during the day. Not to mentions 3 inches of rain. The average daily temperature at 2 pm has been 53 degrees. (I have been keeping a log). Pool temperature currently is 55 degrees. I'm amazed. the cover has allowed the pool to warm quicker and retain heat as temperatures dropped. If I get results like this in winter I am really optimistic we'll be in the pool earlier this year.Last year we were in the pool once before May 1. I will post first swimming weekend.

Warm water? It works!

This is what I expected, not the thickest plastic, but I knew that going in. I didn't want the extra weight and my main goal is to conserve water in drought plagued SoCal. And it has cut down evaporation a lot. With a few days of very warm weather, combined with the solar heater on my roof, the pool heated up to the mid 80's in just a short while. I need to be careful that the water doesn't get too hot, which it will in the summer. But it's perfect for keeping down heat loss over the night and and cutting down on evaporation and chemical degradation. My only complaint is dragging it on and off the pool, which is unavoidable. I've tried rollers but it was just as hard. If you have a pet that's attracted to the pool, this may not work for you. Anything that falls in can get trapped under the cover and drown, so it does require some safety precautions. My daughter cut hers into smaller pieces so the dog could swim around them. It's easy to cut the cover to any pool shape with regular scissors. My past experience with these covers is that it will extend my swimming season by at least a month or more, depending how your temperature preference. I won't swim in water less than 85+.

Works Like a Charm!

Get ready for some heavy lifting because this cover is HEAVY! Getting it in and out of the pool requires two strong individuals. That being said, the heaviness does keep it in place during strong winds. The temperature easily increased by four degrees in a matter of hours. It also keeps my pool clean. Its definitely worth it. Just keep in mind that you will need a pool cover reel and the attachments that come with it or else you will get soaked trying to fold it out of your pool. Also, plan for a place to store it while its not in use because it can make your lawn look like a hoarders house.
