Reviews
I am pretty satisfied with my purchase. The pergola was easy to install (considering its size and the fact that I built it alone with a little help from my 11-year old and I’m literally 98lbs). It took about 5 hours total. The hardest part was getting the shade up without another adult on a ladder on the other side. But I did it!As far as the look of it, I took off a star because based on the photos, I was expecting the color to be more like a light oak or at least honey colored but it’s got a greenish hue to it that doesn’t match my other faux wood looking things on my patio. But considering the price, I’m not too mad.As far as sturdiness, I can’t speak too much on this. The day I built it, we had 20 mph wind gusts and I’m on a rooftop patio of a 6-story apartment building-and it didn’t blow away. However, I did fill each of the legs with pea gravel. I used a little square of the packing material at the bottom to keep the rocks from falling out (because it has openings at the bottom of the brackets) and I would say I filled them about 2/3 of the way up to where the legs are split. Maybe it’s about 35lbs per leg. And after it was fully assembled, if the shade is open and secured to one side, the pergola does not budge. I will be adding cement-filled flower pots to each foot though. Since I’m renting I can’t drill it down and I really want each leg to be 75 lbs. Finally, the price was great for a 14x10’ structure. It all came in one box, and besides one of the little clips for the shade canopy, no other parts were missing. The missing clip isn’t a huge deal but I’m going to contact the seller to see if they can send me one because when the pergola is being opened and closed more frequently next spring I know that’s going to be an issue. But overall, if you’re looking for an affordable option for privacy in a pretty large space, and you don’t mind a little DIY afternoon of building and weighing down this pergola, it’s a great investment. It offers shade, privacy and such a vibe!
Very good material, good price and beautiful appearance to my patio also added the string lights to give the touch hope lasts very long.
Great Pergola. The instructions could be a little more helpful but the product is great. It works great on my deck. Shade when I want it. Took about 5 hours to install start to finish.
Looks great but giving 4 stars due to poor instructions. I had to constantly remove parts and go back on multiple steps. Assembly took me about 6 hours due to this.I made some customizations myself adding string lights and end links to hold the canopy spread.
Great for the price, but instructions are lacking. One person install time was about 4hrs at an easy pace. I had to take extra time reading the instructions because of the poor text quality and questionable diagrams. However, I’m not sure if I was lucky or not, but I was able to put it together without needing to take anything apart.I do recommend putting the pieces under shade because they get hot very easily in the sun.The one modification I made was to install one of the two shade roller clips to each side to allow us to be able to leave the shade half open on either side. Because of this, I didn’t use the bolt lockout for the shade. For the price, this is a great deal even if it only lasts for a few years. I plan to take the shade down and store it at the end of season. I also am looking into a cover for the shade to prevent fading.
I debated between three and four stars, but I am happy with the purchase so I went with four. That said, there were some issues. This is NOT an easy build. There are 375 pieces. It took me a half hour to account for all the pieces and sort them out. It took my spouse and I at least twelve hours over four days - yes - four days, working on and off in the sun, up and down on the ladder, assembling - unassembling - reassembling.... It doesn't come with great instructions, just a pamphlet with diagrams. It tells you which pieces (which are marked with part number stickers) to put together, but not HOW (in which direction or orientation) to assemble them. You find out later when the next piece has it's holes on the wrong side... Frustrating. We are handy and assemble lots of stuff. This was not an easy assembly. No connections were difficult but it seemed to take forever. At one point I was just overwhelmed. It did NOT arrive undamaged - it was very well packaged but one rail was crushed at one end. I was able to pull it back into shape with pliers, and now you would not notice it if I didn't point it out. So I'm okay with that. By the end, we had parts left over that were not "extra" - they were different, and they were pictured in the phamplet, but we couldn't figure out where they went. The top canopy may be waterproof, but would be hard to enjoy on rainy days because it drapes down a little between support rails, and in each valley there are rivets with decent-sized holes that allow rain water to pour through so that the canopy doesn't fill up with water and either collapse or tear from the weight. It's a good design, but the drain holes are about every three feet in every direction - so, I guess you could center your chair between them, but they are drooling water like tiny faucets during rain. We sat out after overnight rain, and every time the wind gusted a little, another half-cup of water that was puddled in the valleys of the canape would blow over and down from a drain hole. It was hilarious. Like one of those fun spots at Epcot, where the water squirts up from the pavement at random and the kids squeal in delight. Conclusion: This is a quality gazebo. It looks great. It's sturdy. We love it! I may not have gotten it if I knew how much work it would be to put it together, so beware of that aspect, but we are very glad we got it.
This pergola completely transformed my backyard. The faux wood finish looks real and classy, and the aluminum frame feels very sturdy. The retractable canopy is smooth to operate and provides great shade when needed. Perfect for relaxing or entertaining outdoors.
Love this pergola. I especially love how the material looks like real wood. I wasn’t expecting it to look that real! Great addition to our patio.
Love the product and quality. Easy to assemble.
