Excellent addition to the small farm. Looking forward to using with a custom tractor boom I'm planning to make using the mast and boom of a small cherry picker, or medical lift, with possibly support outriggers for heavier stationary moves. This can work well with a log arch with a winch as well.

Note that there are several variations in the listing. I’m reviewing the 18” set of 2 claw (one claw on each side) log lifting tongs. There are several other sizes and styles. The weight and load capacity will vary by the size and style. The 18” set has an 800 lb limit.This is a good value for a pair (1 total) of very good quality, sturdy and well made log lifting tongs. They’re a larger size (in my variation 18”, some are even larger in other variations). They’re very well made of a sturdy steel construction and nicely finished in a powder coated finish that’s rated to be rust resistant.They’re an open tong style with a gripping hook on each side (in this variation) and a lifting ring on the top. The hooks are lightly wavy, serrated, eagle claw style for grip but aren’t super sharp like a saw (but do be careful handling them). They open and close smoothly in a tong style (think of how salad tongs move and work).One feature my husband noticed immediately that he said he hadn’t seen as often on other log tongs is the side handles. He noted that he really liked the handles (in this variation) on each side (one on each side) of the tongs.He worked in the professional tree trimming and removal industry (on large trees) for many years and has a lot of experience. He immediately noted the quality of these and how good the style was. We’re using it for small at home yard use so it won’t be under the load or use of professional, heavy, constant use. But he found the quality to be impressive having previously used professional grade log tongs.They did include instructions with it on an instruction sheet. You may also want to print, save or refer to the listing pictures and details as well for more use tips and instructions.Note that no chains or other lifting accessories are included with it. You’ll need to have your own chains or accessories that are compatible with the ring on the top of this one. Be sure any chains or lifting accessories or devices are rated for the same weight capacity. There is a small ring at the top of them that could be used with lifting accessories.Note that this style does not lock into place in a way that you can lock the grip manually or release it manually. Think of how salad tongs work, with an open grip and no lock. These are like that with no mechanism to lock the grip or to lock them open or closed.Be careful when lifting the tongs, they are literally quite heavy and have some weight to them.

I use this with a tractor to drag heavy logs. This is a very heavy duty tool and is very well constructed to last. I am setting up terracing on a sloping section of my lot. I have many dead trees that I am cutting and the heavier a section I can slide into place the better. This with my tractor allows me to quickly attach to a large log and drag it where I need it. It is easy to secure to a log and easy to release it and move on to the next log. This is very well built and is holding up well to the use and abuse it goes through. I am very happy with this tool. It is a great value for the time savings it has provided on my project.

This is going to be so useful this fall & winter in the woods! The hook is made from heavy guage steel sheet & spears to be laser or plasma cut. From the smooth edges I would say laser cut. Either way the tongs look like they will be able to handle about anything I could ask of it! It should make pulling logs from within brush piles very easy, which is why I purchased it. I'll try to update this some when we actually get into the woods & start processing firewood for folks.
