I’ve been using this 8x10 Garvee checkered area rug in our den, and all things considered, I’m happy with it. The rug is very soft and feels comfortable underfoot. We have hardwood floors and gray walls, and the color and pattern blend nicely with the room. It really helps warm up the space visually.
I didn’t have any issues with creases. After laying it flat for a few days, everything smoothed out on its own and it looked great.
The biggest surprise is that both my dog and cat seem to love it. They usually prefer their beds, but since putting this rug down, they often choose to lay on the rug instead, which says a lot about the comfort.
It is a thinner rug, but it still lays nicely but after a few days it will bunch up. I believe it might be because I laid it overtop of the carpet we had already laid down.
My only hesitation is the price. The rug itself is nice, but there are similar rugs available from other brands for less. Because of that, I don’t feel it quite justifies a full 5-star rating.
Overall it’s a soft, attractive, pet-friendly rug that looks good in the room, just a bit overpriced for what it is.
This Garvee area rug came folded, it is very large at 8‘ x 10‘. It took a few days for the creases to flatten out, but let me tell you it is so worth it! I laid it out over my dining room table and that did the trick for 95% of the creases before I actually laid it down. This rug is beautiful and it’s so very soft! I laid on it for a long while because of the texture- I’m very big on textures and this is where it’s at.. it’s like the texture of a plush throw but with low pile. Our cats enjoy it as well as you can see one of them enjoying the rug. This size gives ample room for our living room which is odd-shaped as it is, it just works for us! The backing has a high quality rubber so it has grip whether you want it for hard floors or right over carpet like we did. I wouldn’t dare to put this in our home washing machine, but worst case scenario could go to a laundromat to wash it as it’s claimed to be machine-washable. I would feel comfortable using a spot cleaner/extractor from my carpet shampooer for spills. With a low suction vacuum setting, this will do well but not so much for high suction vacuuming just FYI. Cordless vacuums usually are ideal for these types of rugs, I’d say. I would absolutely recommend this rug!
I ordered this checkered area rug from GARVEE exactly one month ago and now I get to tell you how much I’m already in love with it! First off, that classic black-and-white pattern? It’s so clean and sharp, but not stuffy at all—fits right in with the cozy farmhouse vibe we’ve got going, and it makes the whole living room/den feel pulled-together without me having to do a single extra thing. I swear the room looks bigger and brighter already.
The practical stuff is where it really wins my heart. Machine washable? Yes, please! Yesterday the kids spilled apple juice right in the middle and I just rolled my eyes, scooped it up, tossed the whole thing in the washer on gentle, and an hour later it was back down looking brand new. No scrubbing, no spot-cleaning drama. The low pile dries fast, vacuums like a dream (Roomba glides right over it), and pet hair? Barely sticks. I ran the lint roller over it once and called it good.
It’s soft underfoot too—those little bare feet and dog paws are in heaven—but it’s not so thick that the couch legs sink in or doors get caught. That slim 0.2-inch height means no tripping hazards when the kids are racing around or I’m carrying laundry baskets and the anti-slip backing keeps it glued to the floor even when the dog does his zoomies! No more bunching or sliding. I can actually relax knowing nothing’s gonna send anyone flying.
At first it came with a couple little creases from being rolled up, but I just flipped it the other way, set the laundry basket on the corners for a few hours, and poof—flat as a pancake now. It looks gorgeous, handles our chaos like a champ, and lets me spend less time cleaning and more time just enjoying the house without costing a lot of money. I’m keeping this one forever.
I’m really pleased with this rug! it instantly gave my space a much more inviting feel. The pile is dense and soft, so it’s comfortable underfoot whether I’m barefoot or sitting on it, and the construction feels sturdy and well-finished. The subtle checkered pattern adds just enough visual interest without overwhelming the room, and the neutral tones blend easily with different furniture and flooring.
It unfolded and settled flat pretty quickly, but you'll need some time for the folds to come out. It vacuums easily and doesn’t shed much, which is a relief since I’ve had rugs in the past that left fibers everywhere. I also have a Boston Terrier who will dig at anything that appears to have lose fibers. The rug is a typical pile for a washable rug, - not the thickest, but still soft. I will say that a pad underneath is helpful if you want to add even more cushion. This does have a non-slip backing, so it's not necessary to have a pad.
I would recommend a larger size option for rooms such as a living or dining area, while the smaller version should work perfectly in a bedroom. The quality, comfort, and design make it a great value for the money in my opinion. Overall, it’s a beautiful and practical piece that makes any room feel warmer and more polished.
