We drilled large holes in the back panel to allow light to come in and to allow air flow! Looks fantastic. Easy to put together. 👍👍

This is the best thing I could have bought for my cat (and me). He loves laying on it to catch some rays and look out the window. The place for the litter box is a perfect size. I put a pee pad under the litter box so I could pick it up with all the litter that gets scattered. I also put a Rubbermaid shelf liner on the ledge so he could eat and his food bowl won’t slide off. I don’t think the ledge was meant for an eating place but it works perfectly. A little time consuming but instructions were easy to understand.

Yes, I triple checked that it actually was extra. The instructions were very thorough and seems to be an excellent design and value. I really like the little pad that comes with it to collect litter dust from between the toe beans. I also used a cheap shower floor grip in the transition from the box to the pad. The extra storage is really nice too. I was able to fit a clear tote inside for a litter box so I made note of the inside dimensions listed on the picture which was very helpful. The lid flipping up makes changing the box very easy and it’s easy to keep clean too. My cat seems to like it a lot! I’m happy I bought this pretty little piece of furniture!I don’t have the lid on the tote so it doesn’t keep the smell in, but I change it every other day so it’s not bad. I use a training pad in the bottom with a few large scoops of compressed pine pellets for horse bedding and then I sprinkle a little baking soda on top. This pelletized bedding has been a cheap ($7/40lbs) alternative to using clay litter and my cat has not had any issues with UTI’s.

If you have the patience to put this thing together, it’s well worth it! It’s the perfect size for my cats and it keeps the cats food bowls up away from my dachshund puppy! The cats figured it out and started using it right away, and they seem to enjoy lounging on the cushioned spot too. I would recommend using your own screw driver and not the one provided.Update: Had the thing for about a month now and I still love it but I would like to provide some realistic expectations. Unless you can find a small covered litter box that will fit inside this thing, you’re gonna have to use an uncovered one and litter/poop will get all over the inside of it. It hasn’t leaked out at all, which I am VERY impressed with!!! I just sweep up the litter with a little hand broom and dust pan and dump it back in, easy peasy. Still love it!
