The kit came well packaged and no external damage noted on the box. Even so, there were several damaged pieces upon opening the box. The red top was bent in two places in the center, and the long piece that connects at the bottom was also bent on one corner. These were packed inside surrounded with styrofoam and looked like they should have been well protected. I can only surmise they were shipped already damaged. Even so, I was able to use a hammer to tap the damage out one piece and used a little muscle to kind of straighten the red topper where it was bent. It came together with nuts and bolts even though some of the bending was still present, so the box is usable after assembly.

The instructions are pitiful. All instructions are diagrams and were incomplete. For example, there are pieces that are internal to the box and make up the undercarriage of the egg box. The diagram showed the pieces pointing to the base, but the indication to attach with screws and nuts were omitted. I had to fiddle with it for a long time before I finally realized the instructions were simply incomplete.

Finally, after fitting it altogether, snapping the red roost bar to the egg pan, and inserting into the tray holder I discovered the red egg box tops don't cleanly close. I expected to be able to open the top, remove any eggs, and let it go to close. To property close it, you have to manipulate the egg box with two hands to provide the clearance to allow the top to completely close.

Do yourself a favor and go to YouTube. Search for "Garvee chicken nesting box assembly" and find and watch one or more of the videos. I failed to do so but watched afterwards. It would have helped considerably.

Again, I am keeping the unit. I bought only one to use and test it with a desire to buy more. I'm not sure at this point if I will buy another. I don't have it mounted in the brooder room yet so I don't know how the girls will respond to it. Time will tell, and if they like it and it functions okay, then I'm likely to buy more. Just not sure right now.

Easy to put together. Boxes are a little narrow but chickens are making it work.

This is a nice nesting box that feels sturdy and well suited for a backyard flock. The galvanized metal construction feels durable and weather resistant, and it seems like it should hold up much better over time than some of the cheaper plastic or thin wood alternatives.Assembly was straightforward, and I appreciate that it is compatible with the nesting pads we were already using. The roll-away design makes collecting eggs easier and helps keep them cleaner, which is always a plus.One thing to be aware of is that this unit does not include any type of ladder or stairs. Depending on your coop setup and the age or breed of your chickens, you may need to provide a way for them to comfortably access the upper nesting boxes. Once that's addressed, the multiple nesting compartments provide plenty of space for hens to lay comfortably.Overall, this is a sturdy, practical nesting box that makes egg collection easier and should hold up well in a coop environment.

The instructions are a little confusing but it is worth the price
