Once assembled, it feels sturdy and capable of handling real-world loads without flexing or feeling flimsy like some lighter-duty options.The powder-coated finish looks good and should do a decent job protecting against rust and road wear. While it might not be the absolute thickest coating I’ve seen, it still appears more than sufficient for normal use and outdoor exposure. Most carriers in this category use a similar protective finish to help resist corrosion and extend lifespan .Assembly does take a little bit of time, but it’s not overly complicated. Everything lines up well, and the bolt-together design actually adds to the overall rigidity once fully tightened. The additional brackets secure the 2 sides firmly, and prevent any flexing.One issue I did run into was with the hardware packaging. While the main components were packed securely and didn’t shift around, one of the smaller parts boxes had broken open during shipping. The bolts and hardware were scattered throughout the packaging, and I ended up being short one lock nut, which required a quick trip to the hardware store. Not a huge deal, but something worth mentioning.That said, once everything was put together, the carrier performed exactly as expected. So most of these hitch cargo baskets are for medium duty if you ask me. This one is rated to 500 lbs which for me means you shouldn't load it with more than around 425 lbs to be on the safe side. You know y'all have seen the ones overloaded or at the limit and they are all hanging down and you think they are about to break. Well this one is much better even at 425 pounds. The basket is firmly stable. It is easy to hook up to your hitch and comes with the pins to lock it either in the down position or the up. That is one thing that is nice is that it folds up and out of the way if you dont need it but still want to have it there in case. The finish is even and nice. The welds are nice and it looks like it will hold up up to the elements. GARVEE also includes a cargo net so you can get a full use out of it right away and the net is a decent quality. It's not the best but I have seen a lot worse. If ever needing that extra little bit of room or have something you don't want to put into your vehicle this is a great option and solid performer so long as you keep it within the weight limit.
