Standard mat

Helpful sink mat to prevent cups and plates from chipping in our ceramic sink. Flexible and thick enough without being bulky. Seems to be a pretty standard size & works out well for what I need. I do wish it had a hole for accessing the drain easier.

GARVEE Store KItchen Sink Protector (Gray)

The kitchen sink protector order went smoothly. I received it a few days after the order went in. Made of silicone, it was soft but at the same time solid and flexible. Once placed in the sink I noticed that it did not lay directly on the bottom of the sink but was about a third of an inch above it due to having small feet. So it does not allow small puddles to accumulate after use or prevent mold and bacteria from forming.I was a little concerned that I would have difficulty cutting out the drain hole. But a pair of scissors easily cut through and I was done. Surprisingly, I did such a good job that I can now replace the cut out piece and replace it when I want. I don’t know whether the silicone can last if heated metal is placed on it and I’m not going to try and possibly destroy it. I didn't order the item for that reason. The stainless steel sink is now protected from scratches, not to forget the noise of pots and pans and makes it look many years newer. I’m very happy with the product.

Really well made, does the job

I didn’t think I’d like this mat so darn much, but I do.My plan in ordering it was to use it primarily as a trivet, not being interested in the sink thing. However, after handwashing it with the other things that don’t make it into the dishwasher, and placing it in the bottom of my rinsing sink, I immediately noticed how it made my washed things safer and less noisy…safer, due to their landing on a mat, rather than a harsh stainless sink, so I wouldn’t have to be quite as careful with these things, and being uber noise sensitive, the muting of the noise from placing things in the rinse sink was joyfully welcome (if you’ve ever experienced noise sensitivity, you wouldn’t find that hyperbole). Now, it’s not going to live in my sink, but most likely my dish drainer. I will not be cutting a hole in it to accommodate the drain (there are a couple of convenient cutting guides on the reverse side of the mat, for those who want to do so and like to cut perfect as possible circles). I can place it in my rinse sink when I do dinner dishes, then place it in the rack, and when it is needed as a trivet, it will be happy to do that job. In furtherance of that task, there are little knobby things on the reverse side, that will keep air space between the mat and the heat source, or in the case of a sink bottom, let air circulate under it thusly cutting down on mold issues. It is just a tad large for the bottom of my sink, didn’t measure as recommended, and don’t care. It lies flat enough, going up the side of the sink ever so slightly. If this sort of thing holds your interest, you can’t go wrong with this mat. (This sounds silly even to me, but I even find pleasure in the teardrop shape of the mat holes…just being totally honest…it’s just so nice to be as pleasantly surprised as I have been over a sink mat…somebody needs a life, eh?)(If one looks hard in the second pic, the little knobby things on the reverse side can be seen along the edge…)

Great for items too big to fit in the utensil basket

I have a few of these sink protectors, but I don’t use them in my sink.I used to use my wire cooling racks, put over the top of glasses and other items on the top rack of my dishwasher in order to keep items from flying around during the wash cycle. But after a few too many times they would start to rust at their weld points. I needed a better solution.Along came silicone sink protectors! Thick enough to hold items in place, supple enough to not leave large gaps, and with plenty of small openings to allow the cleaning solution to reach all the items in the dishwasher.I have a few of them, and I can decide how many I need to use depending on how many smaller/lightweight items need to be washed.
