This is a very soft and lightweight rug. It is thin, but good quality. It does come folded compactly so you have to give it some time to loose the creases. I haven’t tried washing it, but for the size I would probably use a commercial washer.
I’ve come to realize that washable rugs are very thin, almost towel like rugs unlike the machine-loomed higher pile area rugs that I’ve bought in the past. However, we now have 2 dogs in the house who have had accidents, and it’s time for us to switch to washable rugs for the sake of cleanliness as it’s impossible to get dog urine odor from machine loomed rugs regardless of enzymatic cleaner and steam cleaning! Also all the steam cleaning & liquid cleaners have begun to warp the battening of the machine-loomed rugs! So, I chose this really pretty gray & white modern print washable rug as the replacement. It’s very soft to the touch—to the point that it can be a bit slippery. The major plus is that this rug is super grippy on my hardwood floors so I may use it alone without a carpet pad or liner (although a pad may help make it more think feeling under foot). The only negative is that the rug didn’t come with separate washing instructions other than on the tag on the underside, which I will cut off since my dog goes after such furniture tags. It says that the carpet can only be air dried in dryer as I’m guessing that higher heat would likely melt the gripping backing.
