You use this under concrete or pavement! It does allow drainage. You can use this on retainer walls and walk paths, but it is not its intended purpose. The purpose of this material is for heavy loads and high traffic. It is not a weed-stop.

Great product for use in a french drain.

For me this product worked perfectly - I had a leak in my crawlspace - dug out the dirt out on the entire side of house, fixed the leak and built a french drain using this product. While this product didn't fix the leak it is part of the overall fix and - I purposely waited to write this review and can report have had zero issues with the french drain it works perfectly and see zero dirt coming out the open end of the french drain..
