While it’s mainly sold for chicken coops and garden fencing, this material is far more versatile than that. I’ve already used it for several creative projects—including drain culvert screens, a coal-ash scoop, and protective rings to keep squirrels from chewing on my septic sprayers. It’s easy to cut and bend but surprisingly tough once in place.The galvanized steel holds its shape well and resists rust, even outdoors. The ½-inch welded mesh spacing is small enough to keep out unwanted critters but still allows good airflow. The zinc coating applied after welding is a nice touch—it keeps the joints from corroding, unlike cheaper chicken wire.It’s lightweight enough for one person to handle but strong enough for long-term durability. While cutting large sections takes some patience, the results are clean and professional. For $40 for a 50ft roll, I was expecting flimsy, lightweight chicken wire that would bend if a light breeze hit it. This was not that. This is heavy duty firm and decently pliable. I am looking to the use this for holiday decor rather than a chicken coup, but this is a great affordable option for that application as well.
