I only gave four stars because the crucible was damaged as seen in photo.. it must have came from factory this way because the box was not damaged. I can still use it but it just won't hold full amount of product to be smelted. Other than that I am happy with it. Doesn't take long to melt product.

I think that this furnace is a great way to get started with the melting hobby. It runs flawlessly through whatever melting I did for the first time use.( About 10 lbs of aluminum) I melted sodacans, and some other odds and ends with this little thing and it was up to the task. It's not a high end furnace but it definitely is great for what I'm doing. Couldn't have been more happy with the results.

The tongs that were supposed to work with it doesn't which is dangerous if your don't know what your doing. The instructions were not very clear at all. They said it was for beginners but unless they know what there doing I would not recommend anyone using this alone. Other than that the product itself works as described. It's not that small, and when we got it the product had a big dent in it and the crucible was cracked.

This was very easy to set up and use. And it held the heat well. Itperformed well and I like how it came with a stone at the bottom to lengthen the life of it. The gloves and tons are a necessity so I'm happy they came. This is cheaper than electric I think. But I used it for cans. To make metal bars. It's really fun to use. Just be safe

I am new to smelting so did alot of research before i bought this. i preheated the mold/crucible as said on the internet and was careful when doing everything. that being said the fireproof cotton on the lid has begun to come off after about 7 hours of using it. ( spread out over a few days.) apart from that the system is great. they say 15-20 minutes to melt metal however i ended up needing an average of 35-45 minutes. again i am new so it could be me. so far i have only used it for aluminum so again maybe 15-20 minutes would work for something like gold or lead. bottom line is i am sure there are better, but this is a great product although the paint begins to burn off so if your a perfectionist, get an electric one.
