At first glance, you wouldn't have expected the handle to be of much use, or in a poorly designed ergonomic location, but it actually really does help quite a lot especially for not just lifting, but also pressing down if you need to really cut into some more compacted snow. My only real complaint about it is the handle itself feels a little on the flimsy side, I haven't had it bend or crack or anything but it's one of those things that you find yourself putting a little bit more care into when you feel the kind of give that is evident when you press down onto it. I've had the opportunity to use it several times already this year and it's been a bit of a labor saving device. I only wish that there was more metal to it overall, especially like a metal cutting blade on the front, because it is just a relatively hard and somewhat flexible plastic it's sometimes bounces against chunks of ice rather than cutting under it.

This is a great shovel. It comes unassembled so you do have to put it together which means three screws and a **** down joint. Its easy to assemble and has clear instructions. The shovel is lightweight and has a sturdy pole. It has a metal edge which is nice because it will keep the edge from cracking. The extra fold out handle is perfect for saving your back. I am 5'2" tall and I have no problem reaching down for the extra handle, which is on a pivot so it is comfortable with any posture. The handles are plastic and ok but would have been an upgrade to make give them a software type rubbery grip. Since I am on the short side I will probably opt to not use the handle on the long pole and instead grab in the middle of the pole. The good thing about the extra handle is that its secure in your grip this way and take a lot of weight/pressure off your back. This will make my shoveling a lot easier this winter. Good for short or tall people. Great value for the price.

Well designed 2 handle shovel, with a tight, wobble free structure. I've reviewed a # of shovels and most have some movement around the points of connection, which will shorten the lifespan. This one goes together easily and firmly. I am including a few pictures of the black threaded plastic connector. It goes down from the top of the handle main handle, the instructions didn't make this clear. Also of note, one handle is a little larger than the other. The larger handle goes on top.The shovel is just under 18 inches wide and has a solid metal edge on it and good overall construction. The 2nd handle will stay in the position you set it at, it does not swing around freely. This works well at clearing snow, I'm 6 '2" and it makes shoveling easier in my back.
