Good value for the price. We made quite a few adjustments to make it stronger and safer. We purchased a 100ft roll of 1/2” hardware cloth, some aviation snips, about 400 metal zip ties with a tie cutter, some more 1/2” pipe and brackets to make a “t” on the back of the coop. The tarp it comes with is plastic like and holds in heat, so we replaced it with an old coolaroo shade instead. Also, the hinge is very weak, so we added a piece of metal and some hardware cloth to stop the door from swinging in at all and stressing the hinge. Made the hardware cloth bend at a 90 degree angle at the ground and left a skirt of about 24” around the 3 sides of the coop that aren’t blocked by our fence. Used lawn staples and washers to keep them in place. Also bought some no dig barriers and hammered those into the ground behind the coop along our backyard fence since we couldn’t bury cloth there. Using some pool noodles to fill in some gaps around the door.
Fit on the door is a bit tricky, but overall- good quality materials. Instructions are a bit better than usual from China mfg. products. I would buy from this company again.
Does it work, yes. The frame is solid and easy to assemble with clear instructions. The chicken wire is a little bit of a hassle. It's not the most amazing design, but for the price, it's hard to beat. With extra anchoring, it survived a recent wind storm in excess of 70mph.
Our chickens love this cage. It's very practical.
