Absolutely impressed with this purchase, supposed to cool 750sqft my garage is 1200sqft cools it down very efficiently to 71 degrees. Once maintained, holds the temp right where it needs to be.
GARVEE Portable 3-in-1 cooling AC unit with dehumidifier fan sleep mode black&white cap 14,000 BTU. This arrived like-new and very-well-packaged in a big box with lots of styrofoam, nylon straps, and padding. It comes already mounted on the wheels, which was a relief. There’s an instructions manual, quick install guide, tubing drain, air tube, window attachments, and remote(AAA batteries not included). There’s also grips on the side but I do wish they were mounted a little higher on the machine. I’m short and there’s nooo way I’m lifting this by myself, especially after it’s been running for a bit.Anyways, the machine itself is very well-made and sturdy. The included tubing, however, is ridged and difficult to work with. I was VERY gentle with it and it took forever to twist on the attachments at a slow pace. Then I noticed after a couple days there was a 1/2” hole near the bend! Very frustrating considering this is an almost $500 unit and no such issues like this with our 180$ Walmart cheapie ac.Also, beware of the window insert if you don’t have a power saw etc. Neither me or my hubby are especially “handy” and unfortunately this wouldn’t fit our window without needing to be cut. The instructions simply say to “cut to fit”. Which is easier said than done! There’s no way I’m cutting this hard plastic pvc material with kitchen scissors or even pliers lol. We made do with what we had and screwed the attachment into the pvc board. It’s not perfect and has a gap(which isn’t the most energy efficient) but it is what it is. Our rancher-style house gets toasty during the summer and we had a week of back to back 90+ days so our old little standing ac just wasn’t cutting it!On the bright side, I’m pleased to report this ac runs COLD and FAST! Within a few minutes of first turning it on our bedroom felt noticeably cooler! In fact, it runs so cold that it’ll ice up inside. It’s supposed to periodically power down to defrost to prevent this, according to the instructions, but I’ve noticed it does not. If I leave it on say 66-68° for a few hours straight I have to remember to remove the filter to check it otherwise I’ll be stuck manually defrosting it for at least an hour. Not exactly optimal during very hot weeks. But if I manually switch between fan and cold occasionally this seems to avoid this.Compared to our old unit; this GARVEE far superior overall, very quick and cooling but a little more noisy. It’s only popped the breaker once in the almost-month we’ve had it, which is pretty good imo, lol. I’m not the biggest fan of the top-vent design, but it’s growing on me. Instead of feeling the air blowing directly on you, you’ll feel it moving in and around the room. Our exact square footage is around 1,500 ft I believe. It cools our bedroom, some of the bathroom, and a little bit of the hallway. Our old ac(now relegated to the living room) does the rest of the work. This would probably be powerful enough to cool a small apartment, if the living plan was relatively open/has minimal walls. My final complaint is with the plastic drain tube they send with this set. It’s the same size as the one that came with our old ac(which is smaller!) and does not fit! The very first time I attempted to drain this, I ended up with water all over my floors. The tank is def twice the size of our old one at LEAST because I soaked 2 full sized bath towels!! If you use a container, you’ll need a very shallow one. Mine was not shallow enough plus the stream was too fast/heavy, and it back-flowed. Now we use gallon-sized plastic bags to empty it and works pretty smoothly. Idk why I didn’t think of it before.Overall, this is a very nice AC unit. Very powerful. I WANT to give it 5 stars but I feel like for the high cost the attachments should be better quality, it should come with batteries, and not ice up aggressively inside. Just my 2 cents.
In my 600sq foot studio apartment, the air conditioner can get the space to about 72 degrees Fahrenheit, but nothing cooler than that. Although this is fine for me, the advertisement of cooling a space to low 60s, is not quite accurate.
I love this air conditioner it is so nice it keeps my living room so cool. It also has so many great features it has a timer a remote the temp goes down to 61 and it rotates. It also has a fan and dry mode. So worth the money my living room would get so hot it was unbearable now I can sit under a blanket and watch tv when it’s 100 degrees out. Get this air conditioner!!!
“This unit is a game-changer. The hose is a bit large however, It cooled my daughter’s small bedroom in minutes with a low noise level, compared to other portable AC units. Everything was easy to install. Best of all, she can control all the settings from the small included remote. It’s worth every penny.”
We already spent one sweaty night in our one room cabin that is not high enough up the mountain to be a whole lot cooler in the middle of summer. This looked like the perfect solution since it does have electricity. I didn't want to haul it up there if it wasn't going to work, so we unwrapped it and put it to the test. In less than a minute, it was throwing out an impressive amount of cool air. The remote control worked perfectly as I tested all the features. It has a nice flattened exhaust connection for the window and air blockers to fit it into. We are going to love this.
OMG!!! Super powerful for such a little guy. Needed a self evaporated portable AC unit for my second bedroom but needed to go to the kitchen window temporarily for company this week. Easy removal and install with some tape and cardboard. Silent and blows across my living room. Crazy cool. Had to turn down after an hour. No extra fans need to help circulate airflow. So happy and excited to have purchased. Got extra warranty just in case. Will update after the summer heat. Highly recommended for comfort during the heat. Value and quality hard to find. Sending a picture of how far the unit is from my living room.Size:CompactValue for money:Excellent price Functionality:Quiet and powerful Weight:Light
I have been using portable AC's for at least the last 10 years and have owned models from a variety of manufacturers. I've bought a few models from Garvee before and have been mostly very happy with them. However, this 14k BTU unit by GARVEE is by far the best I have used. It's a beast, and it does weigh considerably more than the 5K BTU units I normally use, but the integrated wheels make it easy to move and the fact that it can cool the entire top floor of my house makes it worth it!- Packaged extremely well: very easy to deploy, and arrived safe and sound in a large appliance carton (I've had another brand AC unit end up destroyed in transit/delivery so this is a big concern when you are talking about an appliance that weighs nearly 90LBs and costs as much as this..- Low noise: it's actually quieter than any of my lower BTU units (I was afraid it wasn't working correctly - but it cooled down our house on 2 hottest days of the year so far without breaking a sweat).- Easy setup: Setup was a breeze, with the included heat exhaust tubing and window insert. I set mine up in the kitchen (away from the sink) and have it venting out my sliding glass door. I ended up needing another sliding insert piece - but I had one from another AC unit I owned and it actually fit perfectly to extend the one included.- Energy efficiency: For the amount of BTU's the power usage is actually quite reasonable. In addition to the functionality of the unit, I'm also very pleased with the aesthetics - the design is very sleek, and I love the automated swing feature of the top vent which directs/blows air up and away from the unit.Overall: 5-stars, an excellent portable AC unit, would definitely buy another unit from this brand.
I was surprised how quiet this AC is. I used a decibel app on my phone to measure how quiet this is. I also used an in-line power meter to see power consumption. These numbers can be slightly different from one unit to another. The moving vent louver when activated adds only 3 watts to the power consumption. When the Ac is first turned on it takes about 5 minutes to get up to full power.Fan OnlyLow 52dB 49 wattsMed 56dB 57 wattsHugh 63dB 70 WattsAC or Dehumidifier with Fan on high 75dB 1001 wattsThis Ac produces ice cold air. The fan can me felt about 15 feet away. The louver directing the air from forward to the ceiling helps cool the room. I like that it moves warmer air at the ceiling giving a more uniform room temperature from floor to ceiling.
This GARVEE portable air conditioner really came through for us! We live in a garage apartment without central air, and I've always hated window units, so this has been a revelation. We've been missing out on incredible comfort, sleeping in a cool 70 degrees at night is simply wonderful. Setup was easy, the instructions were clear, and the unit itself is surprisingly compact. We had to make a minor cut to the window kit piece, but it now fits perfectly. The dehumidifier function is a fantastic bonus and the rollers make it incredibly easy to move around for draining. If you're without central AC, you absolutely need to invest in one of these! This is a fantastic product.
