I bought this professional grade ( in my opinion ) slicer so I could make consistent beef jerky on my smoker. I have used a less expensive slicer but found it didn't slice as neatly as desired. This unit has very fine adjustments for thickness, and while I have only used it for my jerky, think it will lend itself well to poultry / pork / cheese and other things.

Please note: the blade is VERY sharp and will cut you when cleaning the unit. Also, I recommend cleaning the unit after each use, and not waiting until the next day when you have more dishes - I made that mistake and the dried on fat was a pain to get off the blade !

Cleaning takes a bit of effort as you have to disassemble the blade / guard / feed assemblies, but it is worth the effort to have a slicer that works beautifully - the uniformity of the jerky slices is superb !

After researching meat slicers extensively, I settled on this model and found it offers excellent value for its price. It is relatively easy to disassemble for cleaning, but be cautious when handling the blade during this process. Initially, the blade isn't very sharp out of the box and requires sharpening, for which the included sharpener works effectively. For best results when slicing raw meat very thin, I've found that almost freezing the meat makes it stiff and easily yields paper-thin slices. I also found it works well for slicing store-bought cooked hams without the need for freezing. This slicer has already proven to be a great investment, particularly for slicing hams and making venison jerky.

While the slicer is a bit heavy, weighing over 30 pounds, it's surprisingly quiet, even quieter than a kitchen aid mixer. It effortlessly slices cheese and meat into paper-thin pieces with minimal effort. Although the instructions are inadequate, finding guidance for use and cleaning online was relatively easy. Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase as it's simple to use and clean and performs admirably.

Easy to use and clean, does a good job slicing

This meat slicer is impressively constructed with metal parts and is user-friendly. However, its weight caught me off guard as I didn't anticipate it to be this large. While I can't speak for its longevity yet, it appears to be a durable appliance considering my few months of usage. My husband's experience with a Hobart slicer led me to purchase this slicer from garvee, and he was extremely pleased with this new addition. It's exceptionally packaged and slicing a whole ham was a delightful experience for him.

As someone who has used the Hobart slicer in the past, my husband was initially hesitant about getting a new slicer. However, the moment he used this garvee slicer, he was overjoyed with the results, particularly because of how quiet and efficient it is. We are pleased with our decision to buy this meat slicer and look forward to assessing its long-term performance. For now, it has brought great joy to my husband and has exceeded our expectations.

This is the perfect slicer for home use, easy to clean, stores easily, and works great. Highly recommend for anyone who likes to slice their own meat and cheese.

This slicer is a game changer for my homemade jerky. Every slice is consistent, which makes for much better jerky. Like all slicers, clean up is a little time consuming, but then end product is worth it. I would highly recommend buying some cut resistant gloves along with this slicer as handling the super sharp blade can always be dangerous.

Purchased this slicer in September of 2024,works great no complaints works great for home users. Slices very thin plenty of power. Cleaning it can be a little tedious the blade is heavy and sharp be careful. Great machine.
