Standard 1-inch dumbbells

pro: these are standard 1-inch plates and connectors so you can use them with other 1-inch equipment.pro: everything's covered in soft plastic that feels alright to the touch. You will not consider gloves to protect your hands, as you might with chrome equipment.pro: the plates are indeed bulky and (near) hexagonal which can help with stability vs. a circular platepro: the second-biggest con, that the screws easily unscrew and need to be carefully considered during exercises, is true of other spinlock dumbbells as well and is not unique to this productpro: the barbell handle and one dumbbell makes for an adjustable clubbell/macebellcon: the connectors, not just the plates, are plastic, and do not inspire much confidence. They didn't break immediately or anything, and I think they might be totally fine for the slow dumbbell exercises I bought this for, but I just don't have the peace of mind to drop a barbell or do hard-style kettlebell swings.con: the bulkiness of the plates extends to needing a longer connector to put the same weight on. Also, that the plates have to be spread around the multiple connectors.con: because of the easily-unscrewing locks, the reasonable kettlebell exercises are very limited. Swings? Doable with short sets. Even a warmup like halos? Nah, dude.All in all, my immediate impression is that this is OK. It's certainly not a scam, and it's saved by the standard sizing. But I would've been happier with the 44lb option.
