​I'm really impressed with this ballast box. It was incredibly easy to assemble and attaches perfectly to my category 1 three-point hitch right out of the box. The overall fit and finish are top-notch for the price. It has an 800 lb capacity which provides plenty of solid rear weight when I'm lifting heavy loads up front, but what I really love is the versatility. Instead of just filling it with weight and leaving it, I actually use it all the time to haul my tools and extra equipment around the property. It’s a great, heavy-duty piece of gear and an excellent value for the money. Highly recommend it!

It is so important to have the proper amount of ballast when using the loader on a compact tractor. Without ballast, simple jobs can become both difficult and unsafe. Too much weight on the front without ballast in the rear to counterbalance it can lead to a rollover before you know what's happening. A ballast box is a simple and effective means of keeping an easy job a safe one.This ballast box is very well constructed of heavy gauge steel with a thick paint job. It has two integrated tool holders that add an extra degree of usefulness to the box, making it easy to transport a pole pruner, shovel or any other long-handled tool. The 2" hitch receiver on the bottom adds yet another useful feature to the ballast box, letting you tow without removing the box. Assembly was very simple - just attach the included lifting pins with lock washers and nuts and hook the ring into the top link pin. Takes about 5 minutes.Like most ballast boxes I've seen, you can fill it with a number of different materials to provide whatever degree of weight you are looking for. Sand, gravel or even plain old dirt will work fine, and can be emptied out via the sliding door at the lower back of the box. For a permanent weight, concrete can be used.The green paint job looks like it would be a close match to a JD tractor. I have a Kioti, so I'll likely shoot a coat of orange or black paint on it at some point. Or, maybe not...For the price asked, this ballast box is an excellent value for money.
