I refurbish and resell industrial metal and woodworking machines, most of which are 3-phase. I convert them to run on single-phase power for home shops, and I've used many electrical enclosures (“Box”) to house VFDs and other controls. Until now, I’ve been using higher-priced U.S.-made boxes. Considering the much lower cost, this box compares very favorably.First, the negatives: the key mechanism is poor—finicky and cheaply made. For my purposes, it’s not a big issue. The door latch was also difficult to open the first time, but after a few cycles it now opens and closes smoothly.The exterior appears to have a baked-on enamel finish, which should resist scratches and chips. The box includes a preinstalled ground wire and convenient ground studs on both the door and inside the enclosure. The bottom features a removable plate over a generous opening, which I love—it's much easier to drill that plate separately than to put the whole box on a mill or drill press. There’s no gasket for the bottom plate, but a bead of silicone would solve that. The box feels solid with no noticeable flex.It also includes an internal bottom plate for mounting electrical components (nice bonus), plus four wall-mounting brackets so you don’t have to drill through the enclosure itself. The door seal looks more than adequate for keeping out dust and grime.Overall, a well-made box for the price, with only minor drawbacks.

This hinged steel enclosure is perfect to use outdoors for your Hand-Off-Auto motor control cabinets, telcom building distribution, building HVAC DDC controller just to name a few of the dozens of uses for this cabinet. Cheaper than US made enclosures, this cabinet also includes many accessories that are extra additions for most panels. The included hanging hardware allows you to mount the cabinet to the wall without penetrating the cabinet and introducing the possibility for water intrusion in the future. A removable backplate lets you mount your DIN rail, terminal blocks, switches, fuses, power supplies or other controls and wiring to the metal plate while its outside the box and then quickly mount to inside of the enclosure. The locket is a nice touch but truthfully will probably be replace by a more standardized lock as required by facilities or telcom providers. The access panel on the bottom easily allows many wires if say mounted directly to a wiring trough and interconnecting various cabinets together.This NEMA 4X rated enclosure exceeds the requirements for outdoor rated NEMA 3R enclosures adding dust protection in addition to water. The cabinet door seal seems sturdy enough to last many opening and closings. The steel is very thick and not prone to bending or twisting. The paint is thick and seems baked on so it won't be prone to cracking. The hinge will obviously need to be well oiled or greased to keep from oxidizing and rusting. Same with the lockset hardware.

Nice box, but 2 of the bolts holding the plate in on the inside are broken off but an Easy fix. Locking mechanism is week and inside lock latch was bent but was another easy fix. I would buy again in hope the next arrives is better shape.

Originally ordered to be the junction box for our garage that has never had power but since that project has been put on hold, we decided to repurpose the box. Since the overall build of the junction box is well done with clean welds, a nice finish and made from carbon steel, we have mounted it on my husband’s work truck as a secure, weather- and dust-proof lockbox for some of his smaller, more specialized tools.It was easy to mount on a rather nontraditional surface and it’s been installed for almost 3 weeks now. In that timespan, we’ve had periods of inclement weather, including ice and heavy rain. Very impressed with how well the seal has worked to keep moisture out as well as the dust from driving on barely paved country roads. Will definitely order another one when the time comes to move forward with our original plans.
