Advertised as 40.9 inches long, as you can see from the pictures, it’s 36 inches long. Boxes are supposed to be 10.6 niches wide, but, of course they aren’t, because it’s almost 5
inches shorter than the advertised length. Boxes are barely 8.5 inches wide. My husband is obviously irritated, he could have built what he wanted for cheaper than what we bought this for, and now I’m sure if he wanted to disassemble them and mail them back, it would cost another $100 in shipping. We just won’t buy from Garvee again. I should have known better.

I like that this 8-hole nest box is easier to clean than wooden options. I can take it out of the coop and spray it down with a hose (we have dirt floors). It can be mounted onto a wall or left on the ground. The metal is somewhat thin, but it holds together securely. The hardware for assembly and installation is included, and all of it is of good quality. I only had one bolt that had issues with the thread. Once it is assembled, it is kind of heavy, so you may need two people to move it and for installation. We use natural nesting materials, and they work well with the nest box. Our girls' eggs are usually in the nest, so we can reach in and grab them from there, but if any eggs roll out, they're safe from falling out because of the egg collection bin. Nothing in the instructions explained that the silver metal lid below the red grate needs to be somewhat loose to lift it open.While everything is excellent, I did have to remove some of the dents from the metal. There were several dents, but they weren't anything serious. There was also an issue with one of the back panels not lining up correctly. Aside from those two things, everything is great! I recommend checking this item out if you're looking for a nest box.

This is well made. It definitely took some time to build. I recommend putting it together but not very tight at first, after assembling go through and tighten everything down… it will make it easier so you don’t have to keep loosening things to get it together. Once assembled it is spacious for the chickens and makes egg collection a lot easier.

I gave 4 stars because it was incredibly difficult to put together. The machined holes do not line up and it required a LOT of string strong arming by my husband to finally get it. Also, if you use nesting pads, the eggs will not roll in to the trap as designed. And if you do not use nesting pads, the eggs are likely to crack on the hard surface of the box. However, my hens love the boxes and it’s SO much better than them laying on the ground. We have used other boxes in the past but they have never “took.” It’s also easy to clean and treat the surface for parasites.

This metal nesting box feels solid and well built. The rustproof finish is a big plus, and the ventilation keeps things dry and fresh inside. The perch makes it easy for hens to hop in, and the roll-away design helps keep the eggs clean. With six compartments, it’s a good size for a flock, and I like that it can be wall-mounted or used with the legs. Easy to set up and keeps the coop more organized.

I installed the wall-mountable roll-away metal nesting box (6 compartments, green) in our coop last weekend. Once assembled and mounted, it’s impressively solid—metal panels don’t feel flimsy, the perches are plenty strong for heavier hens, and the green finish is a nice change from the usual galvanized look. The roll-away design does what it’s supposed to: eggs collect cleanly in the front tray instead of getting stepped on, and the ventilation plus the covered top keeps everything dry. Each compartment is deep enough for good privacy, and the legs give you flexibility if you don’t want to mount right away.Where it loses a star is the assembly experience. The instructions are vague and the diagrams are small; I had to redo one side panel after realizing I’d reversed it. Expect lots of screws and a bit of head-scratching to figure out which holes pair up—definitely not a 20-minute build. Once you fight through it, though, the unit holds shape well and feels tight and square on the wall.Tips that helped me:-Lay out and label hardware before you start; hand-tighten first, then fully tighten at the end.-Have a second set of hands for squaring the frame and hanging it.-Mount so the perch is about breast height for your birds; adding thin pads/liners in the nests keeps eggs from bumping loudly as they roll.Bottom line: great function and sturdy build with a nicer-than-average look. If the manufacturer cleans up the instructions, this would be an easy five stars.
