I got this to use with my CPAP machine. The machine requires distilled water and rather than continuously buying I figured this would be more economical in the long run. It works great and hasn't caused me any problems. It can be intimidating at first due to the size, but once you read and understand the manual, it becomes second nature. It is extremely durable and built like a tank. The design is very simple and clearly not made for looks, lol. Also, the size was very surprising. I wasn't expecting it to be so big. I thought I would be able to just set it on the counter top, but it takes up too much space. Therefore, I have to put it away after each use.
I use this every day and it works great. Glass is thick and stainless steel is good too.
Wow have we been missing out! If you're reading this review I'm guessing that you too have a CPAP machine. Both my husband and I do so we've been doing double duty hauling gallons of distilled water home from the grocery store. Plus we have an upright clothes steamer and steam mop and iron that all used to distilled water. I wish I'd really sooner that at home water distillers exist. This this unit is very well made and clearly had a lot of thought put into the design. I appreciate the way the drip spout is shielded to try and keep as many contaminants out of the water as possible as it transfers from the distiller to the pitcher. The glass pitcher is heavy duty with a silicone gasket around the base to protect it when you set it down. The instructions were a bit pedantic and hard to follow at points but once I actually tried using it it all made sense. Basically you fill the chamber up to the full line wiggle the black top down on to make sure that the rubber gasket is seated completely and push the button. It does make some noise so we keep ours in the kitchen so it doesn't disturb us while it's making distilled water. It does caution to not remove the black top right after as the chambers full of hot Steam and can burn you. However, the water dripping into the glass picture is tepid.
We end up using a gallon container to fill since the mark on the distiller will overflow the container. It's pretty simple to use without any difficulties other than above. The value is pretty good for this unit too for what you get. Just clean out the pot after ever distilling and you won't have much build up.
