Better than any other cap that I found

This cap is assembled with screws rather than being staked or riveted. That allows it to be opened up for cleaning, if necessary, without removal from the roof.Pluses:1. It has a built-in damper.2. It came well packaged.3. Compared to any of the alternatives available at the local home improvement stores, this unit was top notch, even if flawed.Minuses:1. The screen component corners were not square. It was necessary to reform it a bit to make it fit.2. The finish is fragile. Even though the packaging was good, there were scuffs through the coating.3. The damper had metal on metal contact. It would be nice if it had an elastomer contact surface. I used a bead of RTV silicone. Edge molding would as be a possibility.

Simple Installation

Put this up myself in about 15 minutes. The included gloves were a nice touch for handling the metal edges. Perfect fit for my wood stove pipe.

Built to Last

The stainless steel construction is significantly better than my previous aluminum cap. This feels like it will last for many years without deterioration.
