GARVEE Portable 3-in-1 cooling AC unit with dehumidifier fan sleep mode black&white cap 14,000 BTU. This arrived like-new and very-well-packaged in a big box with lots of styrofoam, nylon straps, and padding. It comes already mounted on the wheels, which was a relief. There’s an instructions manual, quick install guide, tubing drain, air tube, window attachments, and remote(AAA batteries not included). There’s also grips on the side but I do wish they were mounted a little higher on the machine. I’m short and there’s nooo way I’m lifting this by myself, especially after it’s been running for a bit.Anyways, the machine itself is very well-made and sturdy. The included tubing, however, is ridged and difficult to work with. I was VERY gentle with it and it took forever to twist on the attachments at a slow pace. Then I noticed after a couple days there was a 1/2” hole near the bend! Very frustrating considering this is an almost $500 unit and no such issues like this with our 180$ Walmart cheapie ac.Also, beware of the window insert if you don’t have a power saw etc. Neither me or my hubby are especially “handy” and unfortunately this wouldn’t fit our window without needing to be cut. The instructions simply say to “cut to fit”. Which is easier said than done! There’s no way I’m cutting this hard plastic pvc material with kitchen scissors or even pliers lol. We made do with what we had and screwed the attachment into the pvc board. It’s not perfect and has a gap(which isn’t the most energy efficient) but it is what it is. Our rancher-style house gets toasty during the summer and we had a week of back to back 90+ days so our old little standing ac just wasn’t cutting it!On the bright side, I’m pleased to report this ac runs COLD and FAST! Within a few minutes of first turning it on our bedroom felt noticeably cooler! In fact, it runs so cold that it’ll ice up inside. It’s supposed to periodically power down to defrost to prevent this, according to the instructions, but I’ve noticed it does not. If I leave it on say 66-68° for a few hours straight I have to remember to remove the filter to check it otherwise I’ll be stuck manually defrosting it for at least an hour. Not exactly optimal during very hot weeks. But if I manually switch between fan and cold occasionally this seems to avoid this.Compared to our old unit; this GARVEE far superior overall, very quick and cooling but a little more noisy. It’s only popped the breaker once in the almost-month we’ve had it, which is pretty good imo, lol. I’m not the biggest fan of the top-vent design, but it’s growing on me. Instead of feeling the air blowing directly on you, you’ll feel it moving in and around the room. Our exact square footage is around 1,500 ft I believe. It cools our bedroom, some of the bathroom, and a little bit of the hallway. Our old ac(now relegated to the living room) does the rest of the work. This would probably be powerful enough to cool a small apartment, if the living plan was relatively open/has minimal walls. My final complaint is with the plastic drain tube they send with this set. It’s the same size as the one that came with our old ac(which is smaller!) and does not fit! The very first time I attempted to drain this, I ended up with water all over my floors. The tank is def twice the size of our old one at LEAST because I soaked 2 full sized bath towels!! If you use a container, you’ll need a very shallow one. Mine was not shallow enough plus the stream was too fast/heavy, and it back-flowed. Now we use gallon-sized plastic bags to empty it and works pretty smoothly. Idk why I didn’t think of it before.Overall, this is a very nice AC unit. Very powerful. I WANT to give it 5 stars but I feel like for the high cost the attachments should be better quality, it should come with batteries, and not ice up aggressively inside. Just my 2 cents.
