Reviews
The 12x24 Metal Carport was purchased to replace a canvas tarped 10X20 destroyed in the Feb. '26 snowstorm. This kit has sturdy square steel parts and a decent triangulated framework that bolts together with 6mm bolts and nuts. The basic framework is well engineered, good quality steel and mostly accurately drilled for easy assembly with exceptions. I did notice some rust within the steel tubing so the "triple coating" advertised may not be very consistently applied to the parts. I painted some of the inside of the lower framing tubing with rust resisting spray paint as a precaution where ground contact occurrs. The horizontal cross members have steel endplates that were not aligned correctly when welded. This require redrilling the oversized holes so they would bolt to the framework. Not a big deal if you have a step drill but required adding washers to keep the bolts and nuts from slipping into the oversized holes. Some of the endplates were bent in shipping but were easily straightened out with a C-clamp. After the diagonal roof framing supports are attached, I used ratchet tie down straps (salvaged from my old canvas carport) to square up the framing. Although the framing is bolted together, it still flexes and must be aligned, plumbed and squared. This is a necessary step because the roof panels require a square, level and accurately assembled frame.Attaching the roofing panels requires predrilling with a 1/8" drill bit. The included bag of self tapping screws are good quality but I could not drive them into the steel without predrilling pilot holes (get several bits, they can break easily). The kit includes plastic washers for the roofing screws that I preglued on to the screws with a drop of UV resin. This was a tedious step that took about an hour but then I didn't need to fuss with the washers during assembly onsite. The holes punched into the roofing panels in the factory were not consistently spaced, requiring some adjustments and redrilling. This made the roofing somewhat more difficult than it otherwise could have been.I opted to use DAP med gray gutter caulk to seal the roof panels at the end junctions between the panels instead of the included double stick tape. I think the tape could provide some advantages for assembly but not the weatherproof sealing that gutter caulk can provide. Care must be taken to overlap the panel correctly so that they remain relatively water tight. I expect a few minor leaks but hopefully its not excessive. There was one framing connector that was missing when the boxes arrived. One box had a large hole and I'd guess the piece slipped out during shipping. I made a replacement connector with a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 10" piece of pressure treated lumber. Also not included was the second zippered end panel. The advertised product stated that there are two end panels with zippered doors but only one was included with the kit, the other end panel was solid. I opted for a partial refund for the missing part though I really wanted access at both ends of the carport.
We bought this to protect our new RV. The roof design shed a foot of heavy, wet snow like it was nothing. I have total peace of mind knowing our investment is protected.
I use this to store my boat and do maintenance work under it. It’s essentially a small, open-air garage. The build quality is top-notch, definitely commercial-grade.
