Garvee 22" Commercial Electric Griddle, 110V, 1600W Resterant Countertop Griddle, Stainless Steel Flat Top Grill with Adjustable Temperature Control 122°F-572°F(NO PLUG)

I wanted to write this review since there are hardly any reviews. I had been using a Presto brand griddle and the non-stick coating started to peel. This griddle was about 20 dollars more than the Presto but it is Stainless steel for only. (89.99)First it is very heavy close to 40 pounds so it is not something that will get moved a-lot. The unit comes with a cord that can be wired into an electrical box. It has one eyelet on each of the three wires and is around 42 inches long. I'm using this griddle in my home so I installed a plug on the end of the cord. This is the first part of things you need to know. American wires are color coded with Black being Hot, White being Neutral and Green being ground. This unit being China made does use those colors but not in that order. They made the ground White and the Neutral Green and the Black Hot. I questioned this and through the drip tray drawer you can see the wires easily. The White is the case ground and the Green is the Neutral. So if you also install a plug on yours or wire it yourself make sure to pay attention to this. ( Side note: both the Ground and Neutral wires attach the same place in the home fuse box but still should be connected correctly.)With that out of the way I turned it on. A Green power light will light up when the unit is plugged in and an Orange light glows when you turn the unit on. The first thing I noticed was the Hum. The Hum is pretty loud when the unit is heating the griddle surface. This could bother some people but I kind of feel comfort knowing the griddle is On. (kind of like a toaster hum) The second thing is the temperature control uses celsius not fahrenheit, not a big deal just look up the conversion which is double celsius (example 130 c = 266 f ). The surface area heats from the center out on mine and it holds the heat for a long time.The two cooking tools it comes with are very well made and fun to use. So far I like it much better then my old one. I feel it cooks better and no poison coating is getting into my food.Pros.Stainless steel cooking surface.Well made tools.Large cooking area (13-3/4 x 21-1/2)Nice back and side splash keeps fried rice on the griddle and not the counter.Drip area in front of griddle is (3-1/2 x 21-1/2 ) Making the top size overall 17-1/2" x 21-1/2"Holds heat a long time.ConsPlug wiring color coding.Hum when turned on.Cooler cooking surface side edges when used for a short time (under 20 minutes)One other thing that I feel is unique to my purchase is a scratch on the cooking surface caused by a shipping pallet nail. The nail punctured the card board box and placed a scratch on the surface. The nail was still stuck through the box when I opened it. I can assume that this is unusual and others should not have this issue. The scratch does not seem to be a problem so I did not complain to Garvee or the seller. I included a couple picture's of it.I saw the last reviewer had big dents in their unit's splash guard area. My box had foam protecting it but with the weight of the unit I can see how that damage can occur.Hope this helps others.After using this griddle the power draw is over the amount advertised. The 1.6kW listed on the griddle is off. I have a tester that shows the griddle draws 1890 watt and 15.80 amp at 120 volts. See photos. I did a internet search on what circuit size would be required and it said this "Therefore, it is recommended to run the appliance on a dedicated 20-amp circuit, with a wire size suitable for 20 amps (e.g., 12-gauge or larger). This will ensure safe and reliable operation of the appliance.

Never used, did not need it anymore, should work like new.

I use this griddle to sear steaks and chicken, and it gets hot enough for perfect searing. Its also easy to clean after cooking!

I love how this griddle can heat up to 572F! Its perfect for grilling burgers and other meats at high temperatures.
