GARVEE 150 LBS Drywall Hoist Review: Solo Ceiling Savior or Wobbly Workout?

Ever stared at a stack of drywall sheets and thought, "Why isn't there a robot for this?" Enter the GARVEE hoist—your budget-friendly sidekick for lifting heavy panels without drafting your reluctant roommate. At around $150 (prices fluctuate, so snag it on Garvee or wherever tools hide), this steel beast promises one-person magic. Let's break it down: did it deliver the drywall dream, or leave me hanging? The HookThis beast vowed to turn drywall wrestling into a graceful ballet solo—mostly pirouetted smoothly, but occasionally tripped over its own feet like a tipsy flamingo.Pros 👍Assembly's a breeze: Pops together faster than a microwave burrito, no toolkit tantrums needed.Telescopic arm stretches like a yoga master: From 4 to 11 ft, cradling massive panels without breaking a sweat.60° tilt and 360° spin on caster wheels: Glides around like a Roomba dodging doom, perfect for sloped ceilings that mock gravity.Solo operation winch: Hoists 150 lbs like Hercules on caffeine, with brakes that clamp down tighter than a cheapskate's wallet.Cons 👎Feels flimsy mid-lift: Wobbles during adjustments like a Jenga tower in an earthquake—handle with kid gloves or risk a drywall domino effect.Stability on tilts? Solid once locked, but demands constant vigilance, like babysitting a hyperactive toddler on a sugar rush.Rating8.5/10 – Solid for casual crusaders, but pros might crave more muscle.Buy It If...You're a lone ranger DIYer ready to conquer ceilings without summoning a sidekick army. Ideal for home renos or light commercial gigs where saving your back (and bucks) matters most.Skip It If...Your jobs demand tank-like toughness—shell out for the armored knights of hoists instead.

Helpful hoist.

This was very easy o put together in spite of its weight, but following directions everything came into place. It will allow me to perform a task that is normally done by two people, and I'm able to do it with no problem.

Solid and good helper.

Perfect for working by yourself. Sometimes you just don't have a second set of hands to handle awkwardly large panels, and this apparatus is great to help hoist and position panels. Easily set up and easily used.

Excellent product

It worked wonderful and was a great solution for my husband and I to get the job done ourselves. Set-up was easy and relatively fast---about 30 minutes. Its stance on the floor is very solid as is the center post.
