Solid wood, good hardware, lots of screwing

TLDR; 1- Do not screw alone in the dark, 2- Trust the process, and the guy who predrilled component #5Gentle Reader,I purchased the GARVEE Furniture Style Dog Crate, gray, in January of 2024 because my darling puppy deserved a larger more comfortable and stylish prison during my working hours. He’s a very good boy, to be sure, but insistent on participating in my work meetings, which is not always desirable. When the package arrived, it was much heavier than I had anticipated. I was pleased by this, because heavy packages are often signs of quality contents. However, after wrestling the box up the stairs into my apartment, I found myself quite exhausted, and so the crate spent a considerable amount of time relaxing and acclimating to my apartment in the hallway, still in the crate. Approximately 8 months of time. Which put it well outside the allowed return time, should I have found myself unhappy with the product. However, we had a significant power outage this weekend and I thought to myself, what better time than now- when I have no access to the internet, or even any cell service, to put together a piece of furniture? After all, what else am I going to do with my time?Dear friend, when I opened the package and read the instructions, I was slightly intimidated to see that it said “Two people required.” I am a single woman living alone. Additionally, it required tools! Fortunately, I do in fact have a tool set because I firmly believe every home should have a basic set of tools, even if one fervently hopes to never use them. Specifically in this case, a screwdriver. The instructions also said that assembly time would take approximately 90 minutes. I checked the time, and saw that I should have close to 180 minutes before sunset, and thought this should prove to be sufficient.Still, to be on the safe side I lit a few candles. It’s nice to have a little ambiance when one is screwing by oneself, anyway. And this way, if things ran a little longer than anticipated I would not run short of light. The instructions were very well written, and the diagrams were easy to follow. I do suggest, however, no matter how self sufficient you are- if you have the option of screwing with another person, you should avail yourself of that opportunity. This was a bulky and cumbersome project to undertake on my own. There was a great deal of repositioning, flipping, and turning that would have been significantly easier to accomplish with another set of hands involved. The process also takes a drastically greater amount of time when one is alone. I did not, in fact, complete the assembly within 90 minutes. I was still desperately screwing, bent over and swearing slightly to myself, getting a little sweaty in the August humidity, as darkness descended. Additional lighting was required. This made things much more difficult and slowed things even further, as one hand was occupied much of the time holding the flashlight. There was a point, when I was gently but firmly screwing into the prepared holes in component #5 that I was concerned that the person who had pre-set those holes and gone too far back from the edge and that the hardware I was attaching would not function correctly in the end. I was especially worried because as I had mentioned prior, I had put off assembling this piece until well after the acceptable return time. I am pleased to report, however, that the holes were correctly positioned, and the screwing was successful- I was able to fully seat the hardware, and at the end of the process satisfaction was achieved as the latch slid firmly and smoothly into the clasp. The finished product is sturdy and solid, and quite a satisfying size as well. I would fully recommend it to anyone who asked.

Nice crate.

Be careful opening package as the door is packed attached already and I pulled it out of the track taking it out of the box. I use for my 2 teacup Chihuahuas' indoor potty place (potty pads). I put a motion activated light inside because it's quite dark inside and it makes it easier for me to see to clean.

Great kennel

Very nice but be prepared for a large amount of assembly. Instructions could have been better. This unit is extremely heavy. Can tell due to the weight of each piece that it is not natural wood.
