Great value for a simple chicken run

I bought this to give my six hens extra space next to their main coop, and it’s honestly a great value for the price. The frame is lightweight but the metal tubing feels solid once everything is tightened down and staked into the ground. The listed size (120" x 40" x 40") is accurate, and it fits perfectly along the side of our fence without taking over the whole backyard.

The waterproof cover has handled a couple of spring showers just fine, and the sloped top helps the water run off instead of pooling. I also like the three doors – they make it much easier to feed, refill water, and clean without having to crawl around.

If you’re expecting a super heavy‑duty predator‑proof run straight out of the box, you’ll probably still want to add hardware cloth around the bottom like we did. But for the money, this is an excellent starter run or add‑on run.

My Honest Review of the GARVEE Metal Chicken Run

I ordered this run as an add‑on to a small coop so that our rooster could have his own space and leave the girls to the big run. Unfortunately, the assembly process was far from easy.Assembly Experience:The instructions were horrible. I followed them step‑by‑step, built the frame, added the roof, and assembled everything exactly as directed—only to realize that several pieces were not where they needed to be. Frustrated, I stopped and left it as‑is for the day.The next day, I went back out and double‑checked the instructions. Technically, everything matched what the manual showed, but I could clearly see the structure was still wrong. At that point, I threw out the instructions entirely. I rebuilt the run by studying the product photos closely, and that finally got everything aligned correctly. The fact that the photos were more helpful than the instructions says a lot.Size & Fit:The stated dimensions—120" x 40" x 40"—are accurate. The run provides the exact amount of space advertised, which was perfect for giving my rooster his own area without taking up too much room.Sturdiness & Setup Tips:This is definitely a lightweight cage, so you’ll want to use the included anchors. I highly recommend adding hardware cloth around the bottom and possibly reinforcing a few areas if you live where predators are a concern or if you get strong winds. Once anchored and reinforced, it functions well for what it’s intended to do.The run came with one tarp cover, but it didn’t fully cover the entire length of the enclosure. Since we’re still getting rain and snow, I added a clear tarp for extra protection, and that has worked well so far.

Good quality for the $$, but chicken wire is flimsy.

Does what I wanted it too, But beware the chicken wire is very thin and flimsy. Worth the money for the frame alone, but we switched and used regular chicken wire after a few days because the one it comes with it is too flimsy.
